Welcome to ILCSW's confirmation class. Below you can find out more information about this year's class expectations and the full program.

Please read this article - Does the Catechism Have a Future This article is very short and is a great explanation why we always have and always will use Luther's Small Catechism.

Confirmand Information Form - Click here and follow the instructions to download the form. You can fill it in on your computer and then please click "Submit by email" button at the top. Email submission is preferred.

Homework - Homework is assigned every week. It must be finished and handed in by the beginning of class on the assigned day.

Sermon Reports - 10 Sermon Reports are required for the entire year. Six completed by November 17th and four completed by January 26th. Given weekly Services and the special services through Advent, the confirmand will have no problems getting them done. Download the Sermon Report Form at this page and follow the directions. The forms will always be available in the hall outside Pr. Sell's office. There is a clear hanging folder on the wall.

Heit's Point Retreat - This retreat is November 5-7. We must have male and female chaperons or we will not be able to go. The Heit's Point Retreat link on this blog will have all of the information you need.

Church Attendance - required by parents and child.

Parental Volunteer - Help! We expect one of the parents of each confirmand to assist in the following ways, once in the fall and once in the spring.
  1. Confirmation Parent - At least 3. (see below as to what this entails)
  2. Chaperon at one of the two over night lock-ins. At least two parents (Male/Female) from each grade.
  3. Chaperon at the Heit's Pointe retreat. At least two parents (Male/Female) from each grade.
  4. Assist Pastor Sell with record keeping. e.g. Gather forms for retreat, lock-ins, funds for each event, keep records on who is volunteering for what, etc.
  5. Help organize Service Hour events.
  6. Wednesday night "crowd control." If needed, sometimes the confirmands get antsy and it helps to have a parent in the room. Usually one parent will do. Pastor Sell will let you know if we need to enact this measure.
  7. Help with other Junior High activities, to which we will invite the confirmands.
Confirmation Class Parent

At least one parent from each grade to organize other parents and students for Confirmation Sunday. We solicit these volunteers at our January meeting.
  1. Pictures and photographer for Confirmation Sunday
  2. Price and order corsages and boutonnieres
  3. Flowers for Altar
  4. Collect funds for confirmation gift to the church and flowers. Purchase and display on Questioning & Confirmation Sunday.
  5. Robes fitting, distribution, and collect after confirmation.
  6. Find volunteers from 6th and 7th grade confirmands to bring snacks on Confirmation Sunday for the confirmands as they wait for picture taking. Set up snacks, clean up by 6th & 7th grade confirmands. Thrivent might helps with funds.
