FAQs ILCSW Confirmation

  1. When is the first night of Confirmation? September 8th, Parent Meeting at 7:30 in the fellowship hall.
  2. What are the hours? 6 - 8 pm
  3. Is there a fee? Why? $15 This will cover extra materials and an occasional pizza party during class for variety.
  4. Who is teaching confirmation? Pastor Sell is the main teacher and Pastor Auringer will teach about once a month.
  5. What books are required? Luther's Small Catechism and an ESV bible.
  6. Can I use an older catechism? Only if it is the maroon catechism with the ESV bible.
  7. How much do the books cost?
    1. Luther's Small Catechism - $14.
    2. ESV Bible - $9
  8. Where can I purchase the books?
    1. Monday, August 16th, at ILS' open house. We will have a table there. You can also include the confirmation fee of $15 when you purchase the books (books/fee total: $38).
    2. Wednesday, September 8th, the first night of Confirmation.
    3. After September 8th, through the church office.
  9. Absent? If my child can't make confirmation class, what should I do? Please e-mail, text, or call Pastor Sell as soon as you know your confirmand can't make it. Missed work must be made up.
  10. Is there a Confirmation Retreat this year? When? Yes. November 5-7. It is a requirement.
  11. How much will the Confirmation Retreat cost? $90-95 Includes retreat and snack on the road to and from.
  12. Is there homework in confirmation? Yes, every week. See homework assignments. It is due at the beginning of class. Confirmation Update will include the assignments and be delivered to your e-mail "Inbox."
  13. Electronic homework? Submit homework via e-mail. Pastor Sell is very willing to accept homework assignments through e-mail. However, it MUST be submitted by class time of due date.

  16. What is expected with church attendance? 100%
  17. How can parents be involved? Pastor Sell will provide more information about parental expectations.
